Pleasing GOD before Our Self

There is no tape available for this sermon

We have already pleased ourselves for many years, every day and throughout all our lives.

• By selecting which kind of food, we do and don't eat.
• Which people we hang out with, but don't feel happy with others.
• The career for our future, selected before many others.
• You pleased yourself with the things we see, the things we taste, and the things we hear.
• When we get married, we learn to please others, our wife and children.

NIV Ecclesiastes 2:26
To the man who pleases him, God gives wisdom, knowledge and happiness, but to the sinner he gives the task of gathering and storing up wealth to hand it over to the one who pleases God. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

I. What can we do to please GOD with our life?

• By having all faith in Him.
        NKJ Hebrews 11:6
But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God
must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
• When we learn how to fear God.

        NKJ Psalm 147:11
The LORD takes pleasure in those who fear Him, In those who hope in His mercy.
• When we practice righteousness and justice.

        NKJ Proverbs 21 :3
To do righteousness and justice Is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

II. GOD wants us to take care of our spiritual lives.
Romans 8:6-8
6 For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.
8 So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

a. He completes us in our spiritual lives to do His will and to please Him.

NKJ Hebrews 13 :21
make you complete in every good work to do His will, working in you what is well pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

III. Therefore, obedience is necessary to please our Father GOD.

a. Samuel tells Saul, GOD is pleased more in obedience.

NKJ 1 Samuel 15:22
Then Samuel said: "Has the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.

b) GOD Himself appointed His Son to people, so we can listen and follow Him in all obedience.

NKJ Matthew 17:5
While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!"

NKJ Galatians 1:15-16
15 But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me through His grace,
16 to reveal His Son in me, that I might preach Him among the Gentiles, I did not immediately confer with flesh and blood,

NKJ Mark 16:15-16
15 And He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 "He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.

God is pleased in you. He gives you the opportunity to be born and because of our sin, and the consequences of condemnation, He was pleased to send His holy Son to save you.
